What is Squarespace? What are Squarespace’s Tools?

squartespace

Squarespace is a site builder made to help creative construct their own websites and showcase their work, regardless of their technical ability. Squarespace’s most up-to-date version, 7.1, makes it simpler than ever to revaluate sitewide design changes. Squarespace is excellent for creating professional sites. It has the best quality layouts and features on the current market, and while it can take a little getting used to, the final results will be worth your patience. We recommend it for those who care about layout, or have a bit of technical ability.

Who’s Squarespace best for?

Squarespace

Squarespace is very good for photographers, artists, and anybody who enjoys design and desires their site to appear like the material they are displaying online. That is really where Squarespace shines, and if you do not have high quality pictures — or in case you’ve got an extremely text-heavy website — you will struggle to take advantage of Squarespace’s visual layouts.

Largely, though, there’s something for everybody: over two million individuals pay to maintain using Squarespace following its free 14-day trial, and that is a strong testament to the calibre.

Squarespace’s Tools

Squarespace

Squarespace’s version 7.1 has added a brand new Design panel, which makes it super easy to make sitewide changes to colours, fonts, and spacing. Version 7.1 also lets you insert pre-built sections to any page, to make custom layouts from text, images, and press.

That said, many features — such as marketing and SEO — remain the same between versions 7.0 and 7.1.

Social Media Integration

Squarespace

In a universe where likes, tweets, follows, and favourites are regarded as almost as valuable as real money, integrating your site with societal websites is super important.

Squarespace makes it easy to share the joy by linking reports from over 20 social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Sync with Dropbox for easy access to photograph collections, or import content straight to your website from Instagram, Twitter, and much more. You can even host your own podcast on your own Squarespace site, and print it to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

SEO & Marketing

Squarespace

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and that’s what makes your website rank higher in search results.

Squarespace has good SEO, and its own pages follow SEO best practices. It gives you the tools to make the most of what’s there, like handling your names and adding keywords and alt text.

If it comes to advertising, you can either incorporate MailChimp, or utilize Squarespace’s all-purpose platform Email Efforts to operate — you guessed it — email campaigns.

Domains

Squarespace

Your domain name is your website address people use to find you — for example, ours is www.websitebuilderexpert.com. You may purchase a domain from Squarespace, or connect your own domain if you already have one.

You get a free domain for a year if you sign up to a yearly paid plan. This is just free for the first year — after that, your domain name will renew at the standard rate.

You can register a domain through Squarespace really easily. All you need to do is locate an available domain to fit your site, add it to your cart, go through the few actions to purchase and register your domain name. Prices vary between $20 and $70 per year — more specific domains such as example. Legal or example. Salon are more expensive than basic domain names such as example.com.

Security

Squarespace

All Squarespace and third-party domains come with free SSL certificates when attached to your Squarespace website.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, also encrypts any information entered through your website. This makes it extremely important for sites which process payments, such as online stores.

Squarespace has built-in security to fight off malware or undesirable bugs, and DDoS Protection helps protect your website from malicious traffic. (DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service, an assault whereby your website is saturated with visitors to make it inaccessible to its users.)

Backups & Restores

Squarespace

We have all breathed that sigh of relief after being spared by autosave. If you are always forgetting to press store, possibly write yourself a reminder since Squarespace doesn’t include autosave in its own editor.

However, Squarespace does allow you to restore deleted pages and blog articles up to 30 days after they have been deleted — so no need to dread! Squarespace makes backup copies of your site and stores them in main and secondary servers, as well as storing files in physical and off-site storage disks. That’s pretty comprehensive!

And if you are editing on the move from your phone, you won’t lose your work if the internet cuts out. They really have thought of everything!

Event Planning

Squarespace

In 2019, Squarespace acquired the online booking platform Acuity Scheduling. The Squarespace Scheduling feature was then launched in ancient 2020. Squarespace Scheduling builds all of Acquity’s features into your Squarespace accounts, which means it is super easy for your site visitors to reserve appointments and classes, displayed by the times that you’re available.
